- 1/4 pound Bacon sliced into 1-inch strips
- Three 14 1/2-ounce can whole Green Beans
- 1/4 Onion peeled and chopped
- 1 tablespoon Sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground Black Pepper to taste

Place a 2-quart saucepan over medium high heat.

Add bacon. Cook, stirring so it doesn't stick, until lightly browned, but not crisp.

Add green beans and liquid.

Add salt, sugar and pepper, Stir to mix.

Scatter onion on top of green beans.

Cover saucepan with a lid.

Bring to a light boil. Reduce heat to low. Simmer for 45 minutes.

Taste. Add more salt and pepper, to taste, if needed.

Serve hot.
